A Visit from Constable Harwood

On Wednesday in the morning Constable Harwood came into Room 6. He told us how to cross a pedestrian crossing to cross the road. Room 6 went to Marywil Crescent. Constable Harwood's police car was in the way. In the police car was Mr. Lawrence! He made two white lights and not two red lights. I liked my adventure to cross the road.
Briana

On Wednesday morning police officer Constable Harwood came to Room 6 to teach us how to cross the road safely. We looked out for cars and trucks. We walked down the road and looked for sneaky driveways.

On Wednesday morning Constable Harwood came to Room 6 and we learnt about how to cross the road so we crossed the road and we had a walk.

On Wednesday morning Constable Harwood came to Room 6 because he was teaching us how to cross the road. There were 20 people on the crossing! We went down Marywil Crescent. I was putting my hand on his car then he said "Come back". He gave a sticker to me.

We Loved Playing AFL

On Thursdays we have been doing AFL. We played with Room 5. We played Buddy and it was really fun. The people were called Sam and Dylan. We played Bounce the Ball. It was fun. Bounce the Ball is the best game. I like Bounce the Ball. You pick three buddies.
Nikita

On Thursdays in the afternoon Room 6 and Room 5 play AFL. We play Dylan Says and when he blows his whistle you need to get the ball. I was Abbie’s buddy and I got the ball. My favourite warm up game is Flush the Toilet. I got to be a tagger. I got Isaac and Hiba with the rugby ball on the field. My best skill was the Rock. I threw it and Brianna was my buddy. We learnt it on the field.
Baileigh

On Thursday afternoon we played AFL. Room 6 and Room 5 played Octopus. Dylan said some stuff like if you brushed your teeth you run across. You should not get caught. We played Flush the Toilet. Some people have balls. The others have to run away. If they do they have to be a toilet. There’s also a game called Buddy. When I did it I was with Brianna. In one of them the person at the back has to run around the circle. When they are done they have to go back to their buddy. In all three of those games my favourite is Flush the Toilet. Sometimes we play on the senior court.

Our trip to the Observatory

The Juniors went to the Observatory. We went on a bus. Louie sat beside me on the bus. I saw the Sky Tower. When we got off the bus we saw the Observatory. When we went in the Observatory we watched The Little Star that Could. We went to see the rockets. They looked old.
Brianna

Room 6, Room 3 and Room 4 went to the Observatory on the bus. We went over the harbour bridge. I was sitting next to Mikey. We played I Spy With My Little Eye. I saw beautiful roses. When we went in the Observatory there was a moon on the floor. Then we went in a room and watched The Little Star that Could. The blue and white star was the hottest. The red star was the coolest. We looked at some planets. Then we went in the Space room. We looked at some videos.

What If There WAs No Colour?

There is no chance of that happening in Room 6! As we define what light is we are painting up a storm!
Come and look at our rainbow on the back wall and see what we have drawn in each of the different colour bands.

We have also been thinking about what colours we get when we mix two different colours together.

Thank you Mrs R.P!!

On Friday we said goodbye to Mrs. R.P who has been with us for the last five weeks. We are lucky to have had her teach us and we wish her well for the rest of her training to be a teacher. She has promised she will come back and visit us after she has had her baby in September.

Kind Kenny

We have made a giant in our classroom out of boxes. He loves everything about New Zealand and has a pet buzzy bee on his shoulder.

Our Super Sunnybee Writer of the Week is Abbie
Kind Kenny likes eating hokey pokey ice cream, pavlova and kiwifruit. He likes silver ferns and sheep. He used to live on a farm but now he lives in our classroom. I love him. We know he lives on a farm because he is wearing farm clothes. He has a red and black t-shirt, and gumboots. He has a pet bumble bee. It is red, yellow, blue and black. He is a nice giant and he has spiky hair.

Magic Mic's!!

At reading time when we aren't with the teacher reading our new book for the day we are doing independent activities. One of the newest activities is using a Magic Mic. We put on a funny hat and glasses and use our 'microphone' to practise reading stories from our folders. We are practising so that next term we can read our stories using a flip video to record us. All of these video recordings will be put on our blog.

Music with Mr. Ramsay

Today we used different instruments and our voices to perform for Mrs. Blair. She thought we were so good that you would like to see our performance as well.

Watch our Beanstalk Dance!

As part of our unit on fairytales we have dance and drama sessions responding to the story that we are focusing on for the week. Last week and next week we are looking at giants and the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We have written stories about giants we have made a cardboard giant and we are learning to retell the story of Jack and the Beanstalk through our fairytale storyboards. On Monday we responded to the music we heard by growing like a beanstalk from the seed sprouting to the beanstalk standing tall and strong.

Disco Fever

On Friday night most of the class were at the disco. We all had made a real effort to dress up in our best clothes as well as in keeping with Zoo theme. It was really exciting to be at school when it was dark and we loved dancing together and waving around our Glow Sticks. When the disco came to the end we were hot from dancing so much, happy from being with our friends and tired at the end of another long week!
