Huff and Puff

This afternoon we had the junior Huff and Puff races. All the classes from the junior syndicate sat on the astroturf as they watched each class of boys and then girls race against each other. Room 15 which is a Year 2 class went first. They had to race twice around the top field. Then it was Room 14's turn. We sat for a long time and waited for Room 6's turn to arrive. We were the last class to race. First it was the boys and then it was the girls. Jack was very speedy and raced around the track to come first. He was lucky to have his baby and Mum watching him as he crossed the line. In the girls race May came first. Her little brother William won his Room 5 race as well!! After we had finished our races it was the turn of our spectators to have a go. We really love it that all of Delta's family ran!

We Love The Polkadots!

Last Friday we had ROC ( Respect Our Community) day. We were put into groups and we did art activities and team games. We also watched the Polkadots. They sang and danced as they gave the message of being safe when crossing the street. We had learnt the songs in class beforehand so we were able to sing along with them and do some actions as well.

Keeping Ourselves Safe.

On Friday Constable Harwood visited our classroom to give us our first lesson in Keeping Ourselves Safe. He told us it was important that we know contact phone numbers and where we live. As part of our homework we are learning these off by heart.

Chickens, Chickens Everywhere!!

In the last week of Term 3 Sunnybrae had an Art Exhibition. We really enjoyed making our chickens in the coop, our yellow baby chicks and our huge 3 dimensional hen Henrietta. We also enjoyed looking at all the other work done by the children at Sunnybrae. We were very impressed with how talented everyone is.

Our Lovely Calendar pictures.

We hope you have ordered one of our pictures for a calendar next year. We really enjoyed making them and the process took several sessions to complete.

Our Buddy Class is Room 19.

Our buddy class is Room 19, they are awesome. I played soccer with Uvin and I got a score, Uvin got a score and even his friends did too. When me and Uvin were playing with the ball on the hill I accidentally kicked the ball on Soowon. I said sorry to Soowon and then he said it doesn't matter so we played again.

A long time ago we did an assembly. My buddy is Pippi. She used the microphone. Pippi and I did some hula hooping and skipping on the field. We go on the computer and do drawing and we also share our poems. - Elsa

We love playing badminton!!

We were really lucky to have Melissa from North Harbour Sport come and teach us how to play badminton last week. We had to pretend we were making pancakes and to bounce our brightly coloured 'pancakes' on our racquets. We had a lot of fun and only one balloon (oops 'pancake') was burst in our session.

100 Days of School!

Every morning as a warm up for maths we count on another day to the total of days we have spent at school. So we were amazed and delighted that last Thursday we celebrated being in Room 6 100 days! Because 100 is such a big number we now skip count in tens up to 100 otherwise we would spend too long counting.

Fun in the Sun with Room 19

We really enjoy spending time with our buddy class! We try to meet every Friday morning but sometimes we aren't able to get together because we are busy with other things. Our buddies from Room 19 are so helpful and so far this year we have shared reading, art, theme, ICT and outdoor activities. In two weeks time we will be sharing an assembly!!

Having Fun with Miss Speir!

This week is our last with Miss Speir. We have had a lot of fun while she has been teaching us. We have printed in Art, had Fancy Feet Day, made and tested windmills and also tested what happens when you blow different types of balls with a straw.
